Race Day
My objectives of the day were to bring home the medal & also to renew my PR, but the end result was really upsetting, everything gone, no medal & no PR!! Why?? That morning woke-up very2 late, 35 minutes to the race start time (6.55 am), I just made-up my mind to run even I was late. Then, took a quick shower, performed prayer & turbo charged my car.
Reached Dataran around 7.30 am and parked my car behind the court building. Quickly, grabbed the power gel + endurance drink & ran to the starting point, but the race had already started. Gave my reporting card to the person incharge and started to run slowly. I could not run fast coz I need to warm-up a bit first, then after 2-3 minutes, I stopped & took my power gel with the endurance drink, then after that started to pick-up the pace.
There were so many slow runners back there. I over took them one by one. I maintained my pace around 5.45 for about 6 - 7 km. The last 3 km, I increased a bit of my pace, couldn’t speed-up coz both of my legs already tired. I did’t want to push too hard coz a week after this race was my half marathon run at Kuching, Sarawak. Save energy and didn’t want to get injured. End of the race, my time was 1:00:22. :(
Lesson Learned
- Woke up early by all mean. Should be arrived at the race area at least 30 minute before start.
- Should had a light breakfast 1 hour before running.
