Nice & good quality vest..
Performed my subuh prayer at Masjid Bukit Aman, and then rushed (6.00 pace/km) to the starting line at Lake Garden. Reached there 6.25 am, kept my beg at the baggage area, and then quickly handed over the registration card to the person incharge to get the 1st ribbon..1 minute left..fuhh!

The race started at 6.30 am sharp..!
1st 10 km
Bang! 6.30 am sharp, the race started. Ran slowly at the beginning because there were so many people blocking my way besides the road was too narrow to accommodate a huge number of runners, then started to increase my pace after reaching the main road near the Bukit Aman car park.
Actually, I didn’t know how fast I wanted to run for this race because I was not familiar with the route. My ultimate goal was to finish sub 1 hr 50 min, but I thought why not tried do sub 1 hr 40 min or run at sub 5.00 pace/km, I was confident that I could do it on flat road but for this hilly route, it was very difficult. So, I decided to take it easy for the first 10 km. Damn! I was playing safe again and didn’t dare to take the challenge. Sob..sob..my mental was not strong enough..grrrrr!
I took my first powergel with the endurance drink at the first water station, and felt a little boost of my energy. I increased my pace and started to ‘potong sayur’ many slow runners. I was also testing my newly learnt running technique to conquer the hill and also the technique to run fast at the downhill without much braking, and those techniques really worked. These will be my weapon for the next next coming races..haha..
Reached the Petronas station in 55’20.05, but the timing was not within my target, so I had to increase my pace in order to get sub 1 hr 50 min..!!
2nd 10 km
My speed for the 2nd 10 km was much faster than the first half. Then, reached the last water station, took my second powergel and felt better after that.

The last 5 km was a true test for my endurance and strength, the long stretch of hills really made my pace became slower and slower. However, at the downhill, I increased my pace and turbo speed again in order to catch up the time lost during the uphill climbed.

Face so serious lah..
Lastly, reached the long incline at Jalan Parlimen, I tried very hard to maintain the pace consistently. Once reaching the traffic light, I turbo speed my pace until the finishing line. My timing was 1 hr 46 min 33 sec..fuhh!!

Stuffs inside the goodie bag..

The big size medal..
Conclusion
I was quite satisfied with my timing, eventhough I didn’t push to the maximum potential. I considered this race as part of my preparation for my next half marathon..KLIM 2007!!
The workouts that I need to be focused on are: -
• to do more long run
• to do more speedwork
• to improve my uphill and downhill running techniques
• to build up my endurance and strength by doing hill training
• to build up my upper body strength by doing weight training
